Low Frequency & Ultra High Frequency RFID Solutions

We manufacture vehicle RFID solution for both low frequency (read range of < 8 cm) and ultra high frequency (normal read range of 10cm - 5 meters), but can also customise high frequency systems upon demand. A complete vehicle RFID solution consists of an RFID reader and up to 3 RFID antenna, as an optional addon we can also deliver indicator LED lights or even an LCD monitor to present read results (at the point of scanning).

RFID Reader Specifications


Our low frequency RFID works with both 125KHz and 134KHz RFID chips (Multiprotocol FDX-B / HDX LF RFID) and our ultra high frequency reads all frequencies in between the 860-960MHz range (covering all business zones). RFID tags are scanned via the RFID antenna every millisecond which automatically sends information to the RFID reader for processing, from here RFID scanned information can be fetched from the RFID reader via RS485 and bluetooth.


RFID Antenna Specifications


As a general rule the larger the antenna and the larger the RFID chip the longer the scanning distance. From a vehicle point of view this is not always possible so we have designed RFID antenna fit for purpose but also maintain a suitable read range. All of our low frequency RFID antennas are very rugged so they normally come as metal block, we do this as they get hit during the read cycle. Our ultra high frequency antenna are plastic square boxes which are mounted out of range of being hit during the reading cycle.

Low Frequency vs Ultra High Frequency RFID


Your business requirement will dictate which RFID frequency you need to go for. For example if you need to charge customers for every refuse bin collected (but also need to stop the lifter if they have no money on their account) then you would need to know which customer’s bin you are emptying, so a low range RFID chip would be used. The very same idea when a farmer needs to review livestock in a cattle crush, they need to know which cow they are reviewing.
On the other hand if you collect recycling bins for the local authority and are required to present all the bins which were collected / presented then a UHF solution would be perfect. Very same if you have hundreds of security vehicles and confirm that they have visited the required premises each day.
